Will Blissett

Board Associate – Student Representative

Will Blissett is a third-year Psychology student due to graduate this summer, with a particular interest in clinical psychology and mental health. Throughout his studies, he has focused on areas relating to psychological wellbeing, recovery, and communication within healthcare settings. As part of his final year, Will completed a self-sourced placement alongside the Neurosurgery team at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and based his dissertation on communication between medical professionals and parents in paediatric healthcare environments.

Will’s connection to Alder Hey is also deeply personal. In 2018, he was involved in a severe road traffic collision and suffered life-threatening injuries, spending approximately 15 weeks at the hospital following emergency treatment. Throughout his recovery, he experienced significant physical and mental health challenges, but with determination and the support of those around him, he made a full physical recovery and continues to manage his long-term health positively. The care and encouragement he received throughout rehabilitation inspired a lasting ambition to give back, including hopes of one day working as a Clinical Psychologist within the hospital.

In 2024, Will signed up for the Great Wall of China Trek 2025 in support of Alder Hey Children’s Charity, raising £11,852 through fundraising events, corporate partnerships, and community support. He is passionate about improving mental wellbeing, supporting young people and families, and promoting opportunities that help people build confidence, resilience, and connection through positive experiences — values which strongly align with the mission of Connect Outdoors.
